Medications You Shouldn't Take With Cialis

When you consume a new medication for the first time, there are a number of things you need to think about. Firstly - are you allergic to the substance (active ingredient) in the medication? Secondly, have you ever had a bad reaction to a similar drug in the past? And finally, are you taking other drugs (prescription medications, recreational drugs) at the moment?

Answering all three questions is important, because if you answered yes to any of the above, chances are that something bad could happen to you when consuming the new drug.

In this article, we'll take a look at Cialis in particular, and note the drugs which you should stay away from if you have been prescribed this impotence treatment.

Cialis with Amyl Nitrites - Not a Good Mix

We've listed this combination first, because it is an extremely dangerous mix. Both Cialis and Amyl Nitrites work in the same way - by lowering blood pressure and relaxing various vessels in the body.

If taken at the same time, the body needs to over-compensate for the chemicals which have been introduced, and this can result in a number of serious effects - including:

  • Unconsciousness.
  • Difficulty breathing (and even suffocation).
  • Heart irregularities and heart attack.

As you can see - if there is a single combination that you should always avoid, it is Cialis and Amyl Nitrites. For the record, the latter drug also includes Butanes and Iso-Butanes, as these inhalants cause the same blood pressure effect.

 Cialis with Anti-Depressants

Taking Cialis at the same time as any anti-depressants on the market is a bit of a grey area. Studies have shown two different sets of results when it comes to this combination. These include:

  • No Effect on health.
  • Minor Effect on health.

In the studies which showed no effect on health, anti-depressants continued to work well in patients who consumed Cialis on top of the medication.

In some other patients however, minor side effects of anxiety and restlessness were shown when Cialis was introduced. This leads us to believe that the combination affects some people, but not others.

Probably the best thing you can do is speak to your doctor if you are currently using anti-depressants. They should know whether or not Cialis will cause an effect in your particular case.
